There are plenty paid blog networks out there that promise unlimited backlinks and much improved search engine rank, all for very little effort from you. They can cost anywhere from $30 a month to several hundred per month but are they well worth the money? Let's consider a few of the pros and cons of these services.
The idea behind these blog networks is always to allow you to create backlinks to other websites without needing to beg and grovel to other webmasters. Some of these services began as private networks while some were established to be sold as a service from the beginning.
The idea is that you could post your content to these blogs and can include links back to your various other websites. This will help both with indexing for newer sites with increasing search engine ranking positions with the additional backlinks.
Obviously, the big benefit is it's all handed to you on a silver platter - there's no searching for sites that will link back. You can post whatever content you want, including whatever anchor-text links you want, as long as you stick to the rules from the blog network.
The truth is, you'll get varying examples of value from these networks. Some of them, especially around the cheaper end of the price spectrum, comprise low-PR sites that don't really have a lot of "link juice" to pass along for your site with the links you set there. Other networks have more powerful sites but you generally pay far more money to join them.
It is also debatable whether links on blog networks offer much value, regardless of the quality of the sites. There's no question that they will get acquired quickly through the search engines, and may help speed up indexing. But on most of these blogs, your post (and link) will end up on a deep archive page with little or no Pagerank once it drops from the first couple of pages.
Another big issue is how transparent the blog networks are. In the end, if a Google employee can subscribe to the service and easily identify all the blogs in the network, it can't take much for them to completely discount all of the links on those sites.
These types of blog networks can work well included in a larger traffic strategy, but when you make use of them as your primary source of links you'll likely be disappointed.
Of course, if you do sign up for one, make certain they don't share all the sites in the network. Ideally you'll need a system that does not show you the websites, but handles the posting for you.
